Tips To Protecting The Oceans

tipsimg.jpg

Think About What Goes In The Gutter ... sweep your driveways and sidewalks; put trash in the can instead of the gutter. Use your lawn clippings to fertilize your lawn. Remember that what goes into your gutter may soon end up in your ocean.

Pull Your Own Weeds ... pesticides and herbicides you spray on your lawn and garden eventually end up in the gutter. And you know where that goes!

Storm Drains are Not Trash Cans ... trash and toxins (paint, paint thinner, pesticides, etc.) dumped down a storm drain run straight to the ocean. Don't think "Out of sight, Out of mind"!!

Fix Your Car ... how does that help, you say? If your car leaks oil, it will eventually find its way to the ocean. More oil enters the ocean from urban runoff than from tanker spills.

Quit Using Styrofoam ... it survives seemingly forever in the ocean, a real hazard to marine life. If you must use it, dispose of it in a trash can.

Use Non-Toxic Cleaning Products ... vinegar and baking soda clean very well. Save money and protect the environment.
